Mechanical Operation Engineer (Posted September 3, 2020)

Summary of duties and responsibilities:

Use knowledge in the field of mechanical engineering to master the structure of the equipment and the operating principles of its components. Skilled in operating equipment and able to adjust some important key components to achieve product production efficiency goals. Plans and directs activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for industrial processes, materials, and products. Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation, utilizing knowledge in mechanical engineering field. This is a hands on role and you are expected to be on the production floor.


Primary duties and responsibilities:

  • Perform maintenance on electromechanical units

  • Read and identify the PLC control panel, master data settings and use function keys proficiently. Identify equipment failures in time

  • Review, develop and prepare maintenance standards

  • Ensure electromechanical equipment, materials, components, and systems meet functional specification

  • Experience with high voltage systems and power calculations

  • Establishes program to evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and testing, measurement, and analytical equipment and facilities

  • Equipment failure analysis and knowing how to resolve the failure

  • Directs workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product, process quality and reliability

  • Manages quality control program and works

  • Performs other related duties and assignments as required


Education, prior work experience and specialized skills and knowledge:

  • Degree in quality, industrial, or mechanical engineering

  • Additional consideration given to ASQ certified candidates

  • 2+ years’ experience in and skills in field operation, debugging, maintenance, and repair of machinery and equipment (important)

  • Experience coding and using QA software tools and processes

  • Strong mechanical skills and hands-on skills required

  • Exposure to lean manufacturing and failure mode and effects analysis desirable 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent project management skills

  • Ability to read and operate PLC

  • Must possess all KSA’s necessary to perform all primary duties

  • The position will be required to perform complex math


Physical environment/working conditions: The position is primarily in an industrial environment and requires standing for long periods of time throughout the day. The noise level is moderate.

Equipment and Machinery used: Computer, CAD Software, hand tools, power tools, PLC software

Other: The position requires the ability to function as a member of a team and as an individual. This role requires a high degree of flexibility and ability to handle multiple priorities timely
